Knowledge worth building on

At Travbyen, we share our knowledge because the green transition requires solutions that the entire industry can build on. That is why we test materials and develop building systems and methods that are not only used here, but which others are free to use, test, and improve.

We share what we learn: from fire tests and CO₂ calculations to experiences with more sustainable constructions and new approaches to creating vibrant urban spaces. In this way, Travbyen is not just a new district, but an open development laboratory.

Here in the knowledge bank, you can download all the material we release. Keep an eye on the site, as we will be sharing data and knowledge from the construction project on an ongoing basis.

Key knowledge and insights from the first phase of construction

20+ Fire tests

Fire tests have been conducted on wood-based structures – all results are freely shared.

1 system

has been created as a uniform framework that spans all housing typologies, linked to procedural experiences and developer insights across housing typologies.

We freely share the knowledge we have gained. And the opportunities that can be created from this are, in fact, where the real benefits lie.

Frequently asked questions

  • What role does knowledge sharing play in Travbyen?

Travbyen is not just a construction project, but a long-term contribution to the green transition. That is why we share our experiences openly, so others can learn from them. The more knowledge that is shared across the industry, the faster new, sustainable solutions can take hold in practice.

  • What is Travbyen’s knowledge sharing fundamentally about?

In short: turning experience into a shared benefit. We document what we test, what works, and where challenges remain, and make it available to everyone working with urban development, construction and sustainability.

  • How do you develop new knowledge within the project?

Knowledge is generated both through the main construction project and through our smaller pilot builds, where we test new materials and solutions in practice. This gives us insight into what can be scaled, and how we can improve the next phase. We share that learning on an ongoing basis.

  • Who can use the knowledge you make available?

Anyone who wants to build more sustainably, from advisers and developers to local authorities, students and passionate changemakers. The material is freely available, so the knowledge created in Travbyen can travel further and make a difference.
